CoNGO WG on the Culture of Peace – Meeting on 14 April 2011
Dear all,
There will be an exploratory meeting next week for all NGOs interested in working together on issues related to the Culture of Peace. The meeting will take place on Thursday, April 14 from 14:30 to 16:30 at the CoNGO Conference Room (aveue de la Paix 11). The meeting may be shorter depending on our discussion.
The WG will principally and initially focus on the Human Right to Peace and the current HRC Advisory Committee work on the right of peoples to peace, as this is closely related to the need for peace education and the Culture of Peace. Other ideas for collaboration and projects on the Culture of Peace are also welcome and will be discussed at the meeting. Feel free to send me input regarding the provisional agenda for the meeting before Thursday.
The OHCHR also recently published a questionnaire for civil society regarding the right of peoples to peace. We will discuss strategies to maximize this opportunity to have an impact in the Advisory Committee’s work at our meeting. In the meantime, please forward the questionnaire to as many interested parties as possible, as the deadline is fast approaching: May 2, 2011. The link is:
Please respond letting me know if you will be attending our meeting on Thursday, April 14 in order to know how many people to expect.
If you are interested but are not able to attend the meeting, kindly also let me know so that I can keep you informed about further steps.
Please forward this email to other NGOs you think may be interested. Looking forward to seeing many of you at the meeting!
Peace,
